In a scrappy game, Apsa were out done when two crucial decisions went against them. The two team spend most of the time in a mid-field battle but it was Apsa who had the most chances, non of which they could put away thanks mainly to some great goal keeping from Barkingside’s’ Manny,
In the 30th min Barkingside on the counter got a free kick just outside the box, which APSA only half cleared. The return cross into the penalty area found Barkingside centre half Craig Dennis, who latched on to and fired past Brown to put the visitors one up.
Five minutes later, Isaac Aubynn, playing at left back, was controversially adjudged to have handled inside the box when trying to clear a deep cross. Fabian Batchelor stepped up to put the spot kick away.
In the second half APSA dominated the game, with chance after chance going begging as Manny in the Barkingside goal marshalled his defence and made crucial saves from Aubynn and Akpele. APSA also had a certain penalty turned down when Akpele was brought down in the box (see match photos of the incident in the Gallery section)
