Hard fought three points for Apsa in a game which they had the lion’s share of the spoils without looking convincing in front of goal.
The winner coming in the 16th minute after some intelligent work from keeper Steve Brown. The youngster cought a high Clapton cross then hit a super drop kick in to the away team’s penalty area which caught the visitors defence wrong footed.
Isaac Aubynn was first to react, and slid the ball into the back of the net to score what was the only goal of the game.
With E.S.L. Secretary Rob Errington in attendance at the Terence MacMillan Stadium, Apsa had most of the chances in front of goal. Ten minutes into the game Junior Sanda headed wide from inside the 6 yard box before Aubynn’s goal.
Apsa squander more chances in the second half with Lata, Aubynn and Akpele all missing good chances, which kept the game on edge and give the visitors some hope right until the final whistle.
On a positive note, young keeper Brown, looked solid at the back, making saves and catching anything that come in his box through the air.
